Microsoft wants to digitally revolutionize the Indian manufacturing industry. The company today showcased three of its IoT solutions aimed at digitally transforming the Indian manufacturing space to keep pace with the demands of ‘Fourth Industrial Revolution’.

Powered by Azure, the Microsoft’s open, flexible, enterprise-grade cloud computing platform, the solutions are offered by three startups- Covacsis, Teramatrix , and Pricemetrix, which are helping Indian big shots like KEC International Ltd, Hero Moto Corp, GM, etc. to create digital, intelligent, and predictive factories.

Microsoft's Solutions Aims To Digitally Transform Indian Industries

During the event in New Delhi, we at Gizbot, interacted with Microsoft and the startups to find out how the Digital Transformation of Indian manufacturing Industries is a step towards the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Narendra Bhandari, General Manager of developer Experience and Evangelism at Microsoft told Gizbot that the company along with its partners is helping industries gain insights and make better decisions. The company’s suite of products including Azure Machine Learning, Cortana Intelligence Suite and IoT Solutions are being utilized by tech startups to help Indian manufacturers of any size transform digitally.

The convergence of the physical and digital worlds is underway and the industries (manufacturing and service based) needs to make a transition from traditional methods to digital ones to sustain and to benefit the end users and its employees. That said, here’s how these tech startups are helping Indian manufacturing industries make the smooth transitions.

Covacsis Technologies

Covacsis believes that harnessing the data and draw actionable insights from it is the key to achieve digital transformation for manufacturing industries. The startup offers a platform- Intelligent Plant Framework, which provides a 360 degree visibility of the manufacturing floor in real-time. The stratup is helping KEC International Limited, which is India’s second largest manufacturer of electric power transmission towers, to track key performance indicators by acquiring the data generated from machines and controllers. The KEC team then analyze run time and cycle time of the machines in real-time to track variations over a period of time, thus highlighting the scope of improvement.

When asked about their solution’s reach and adoption rate by Indian industries, Tarun Mishra, Founder and CEO, Covacsis Technologies said that 50 out of top 100 companies in India are using Covacsis IPF platform. The startup also mentioned that the IPF transforms a factory into digital factory in less than six weeks without any capital expenditure.

Teramatrix Technologies

Talking about Teramatrix, the company helped Hero Motocorp achieve higher accuracy, efficiency and faster decision making by deploying a connected deploying module backed by Microsoft’s Azure service.

The solution have been deployed in Hero Motocorp’s Gurgaon plant, where the machines have been connected to XFusion IoT software platform. Quality and defect logs generated while testing different auto components cross multiple test types are stored in Azure cloud. As per Ankit Tapria, Co-founder, Teramatrix, the startups’ solution backed by Microsoft offers a real-time consolidated dashboard that has helped Hero Motocorp reduce the human intervention in the quality testing process, thus leading to higher accuracy and efficiency in the overall manufacturing process.

The startup is also offering its services to Eicher and some other auto manufacturing industries.

Pricematrix Technologies

Last but not the least, Pricematrix offers IoT and Analytics to enable real-time process management, and actionable analytics to improve on productivity and efficiency. The startup is supporting Samudra Electronic System Pvt. Ltd. by providing remote monitoring and controlling of over 100,000 public street lights that comes under Jaipur Nagar Nigam.

Pricematrix’ street light monitoring and control system is deployed on Microsoft’s Azure platform and offers real-time dashboard for street light controllers to ensure visibility in power status, power consumption and monetary savings. Subramhanya hathwar, Co-Founder and VP, Pricematrix Technologies also told Gizbot that the field workers also get notified on their mobile phone about a non-functional street light to resolve the fault as early as possible.

On being asked how their solution is helping Jaipur Nagar Nigam, the startup said that the Azure based solution has resulted in significant reduction in response times to lamp failures, has streamlined operations leading to manpower optimization, brought transparency in invoicing and reduction in invoicing delays.

The firm also plans to deploy the same to other states as well in future.
